Cook Time: 15 Min
Total Time: 30 Min
Servings/Yield: 12 Biscuits

What You Will Need

8 oz Yancey's Fancy Garlic & Herb Cheddar or Chesapeake Bay Cheddar, freshly grated
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1 cup cold buttermilk
1/4 cup butter, melted (for brushing)
1 tbsp fresh parsley, minced (for garnish)

What To Do

1. Preheat & Mix: Heat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, and salt together in a large bowl.
2. Cut & Fold: Cut cold cubed butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter until coarse crumbs form. Fold in cold buttermilk and grated cheddar cheese until just combined (do not overmix).
3. Bake: Drop 12 equal portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 14–16 minutes until tops are lightly golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
4. Glaze & Serve: Stir minced parsley and extra garlic powder into melted butter. Brush hot biscuits generously immediately after removing from the oven.

Pro Tips:

1. The Temperature Check: Keep your butter and buttermilk ice-cold right up until mixing. Cold butter creates steam pockets in the oven for maximum rise and flakiness.
2. The Sip: Complement these warm, buttery biscuits with an ice-cold Cream Ale or a light, crisp Blonde Ale.
3. The Wine Sip: Pair with a bright, sparkling Prosecco or a dry Riesling to slice through the garlic-butter richness.
4. The Final Touch: Brush generously with warm garlic herb butter while hot out of the oven before sharing your masterpiece on social!
