Next-Day Turkey, Cranberry & Smoked Gouda Melt
Leftovers, Leveled Up, Gooey Smoked Gouda
The day-after sandwich built to use up the fridge: leftover turkey and stuffing griddled between sourdough with cranberry sauce and Yancey's Fancy Smoked Gouda, which melts long and stretchy for a seriously gooey pull.
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Total Time: 25 min
Serves: 4
What You Will Need
- 8 sourdough bread slices
- 12 oz leftover turkey, sliced
- 8 oz Yancey's Fancy Smoked Gouda, sliced or shredded
- 1/2 cup leftover cranberry sauce
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup leftover stuffing, warmed (optional)
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
What To Do
- Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter on one side of each of the 8 sourdough slices. The buttered sides will face out.
- Build the Sandwiches: On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, spread Dijon mustard and cranberry sauce. Layer on the turkey, warm stuffing (if using) and smoked gouda, then top with the remaining slices, buttered side out.
- Griddle Low and Slow: Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-low. Add the sandwiches and press gently. Cook until the bottom is deep golden.
- Flip and Finish: Flip and cook until the second side is golden and the smoked gouda is fully melted and oozing.
- Slice and Serve: Rest for 1 minute, slice on the diagonal and serve warm.
Pro Tips:
Low, patient heat melts the gouda all the way through before the bread burns. No stuffing on hand? A handful of crispy fried onions adds a similar crunch.
